Specialist trauma therapy

This is a dedicated service aimed to help those who have had a difficult childhood, life traumas, and for anyone suffering from PTSD or C-PTSD. We also offer specialist trauma-informed family therapy such as Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy (DDP) and Theraplay, including Therapeuting Parenting sessions. Finally, we also offer a wide range of carefully planned weekly trauma-informed events.

Welcome to Stepping Stones Psychology

who is it for?

This space is for people who have experienced trauma, whether from specific life events that may have led to a PTSD diagnosis, or from painful experiences in childhood.

You might have lived through childhood trauma, such as abuse (physical, emotional, or sexual) or neglect (emotional or physical). Whether or not you’ve been diagnosed with Complex PTSD, the lasting effects of those experiences may still be with you today.

You may have already had counselling or therapy in the past, and it helped in meaningful ways where you might have gained insight, made changes, and experienced growth. But despite all of that, you may still find yourself struggling with triggers or emotional patterns that feel stuck or hard to shift.

My specialism in working with trauma, abuse, neglect, and attachment wounds is here to help you explore those deeper layers, and support you on a path toward more lasting healing and integration.

What Can We Work On Together and What Might Change??

Therapy can help you see yourself in a new light. Over time, you may notice positive shifts in how you relate to yourself and others, improvements in your mood and behaviour, and greater clarity in your thoughts. You'll also gain practical tools and strategies to manage trauma in your daily life, supporting your long-term emotional wellbeing.

We’ll work together on the issues that matter to you. These may include:

  • Understanding how past trauma still affects your present and learning how to loosen its grip

  • Managing trauma and emotional triggers or flashbacks more effectively

  • Building healthier relationships and deeper connections

  • Improving sleep, reducing nightmares or insomnia

  • Addressing attachment-related anxiety (e.g. fear of rejection, abandonment, emotional unavailability)

  • Navigating parenting while carrying the impact of trauma

  • Reducing physical symptoms like pain, nausea, or dissociation

  • Coping with irritability, anger, or aggressive impulses in healthy ways

  • Replacing self-destructive or addictive behaviours with more supportive resources

  • Feeling less emotionally numb or disconnected from your body

  • Developing a sense of internal safety and trust

  • Increasing focus, decision-making, and day-to-day functioning

  • Handling life transitions with more confidence and less anxiety

  • Learning to replace survival responses (fight, flight, freeze) with more adaptive coping tools

  • Managing overwhelming emotions like shame, guilt, sadness, or rage

  • Becoming more assertive and confident in setting boundaries

We specifically support clients with:

  • Developmental trauma and attachment wounds

  • PTSD and Complex PTSD (C-PTSD)

  • Anxiety-related disorders and phobias

  • Personality disorders
