Absolutely honoured to have been invited to speak as a guest speaker for the Seen & Heard charity.
Chris, the Director of Seen and Heard, and I talked about my own background, how culture and schooling shaped my early experiences, and why attachment plays such a huge role in how we relate to ourselves and others.
We also touched on how trauma can show up differently across our lives, the ways people sometimes cope through things like addiction, and why body-based (somatic) approaches can be so grounding.
I also spoke about polyvagal theory and the importance of treating ourselves with patience and kindness while healing.
If any of that resonates, you might find the conversation helpful. Here is the link to my podcast: Click here.
Seen and Heard is a UK charity that has been set up by former boarding school pupils to support the emotional wellbeing of boarders. They offer free online sharing groups, a supportive community, resources, and a practitioner directory. They also do advocacy work around safeguarding and the long-term impact of boarding school. Again, if this resonates with you or someone you know, it might be worth having a look at.
