Are you a therapist or helping professional who:
- Works with trauma
- Wants a deeper and embodied approach
- Feels unsure where to start with trauma work
If you work with trauma or feel drawn to trauma work but are not sure where to begin, I am pleased to share that we are re-launching the Integrative Trauma & Attachment Treatment Model (ITATM®) training in the UK in May and June 2026.
What is ITATM®?
ITATM® is a body-based, neuroscience-informed approach that works with trauma through the nervous system, brain and body. It supports safe and effective trauma processing while helping regulate the body and mind, without requiring clients to talk through everything that happened.
This approach is particularly effective for complex trauma and attachment-related difficulties, especially where clients may feel overwhelmed, struggle with trust or have not benefited from other approaches.
What makes ITATM® different?
Unlike many models where trauma is just one component, trauma and attachment are the foundation of ITATM®.
The model follows a clear, step-by-step structure, integrating:
- Body-based (somatic) approaches
- Attachment-informed practice
- Cognitive approaches
All delivered in the order the brain naturally processes trauma, helping clients feel safer and more contained throughout the process.
ITATM® is often experienced as a more structured and accessible way of working with complex trauma.
About the training
This training offers a structured and compassionate framework grounded in:
- Neuroscience
- Attachment theory
- Somatic regulation
I have worked in mental health for over 20 years, specialising in trauma and attachment. While I have trained in a range of specialist trauma and attachment therapy approaches, ITATM® is the model I return to most due to its ability to integrate elements from leading evidence-based models, including EMDR and Trauma-Focused CBT, alongside somatic and attachment-based approaches, into one clear, structured framework.
Thinking, “I already use integrative approaches…what more would I get from this training?”
The answer is the step-by-step, brain-based layering protocol.
ITATM™ isn’t just a mix of techniques e.g. you don’t pick and choose different approaches. It is a rigid, step-by-step framework that layers somatic, attachment, and cognitive components in exactly the order the brain needs to process trauma.
As it is a structured protocol rather than a general integrative approach, it is highly effective for clients with complex trauma who often struggle with traditional stabilisation methods. It has been field-tested in real-world clinical practice, and therapists already trained in EMDR and somatic work consistently report that ITATM™ is the most effective, rapid approach they have integrated into their practice.
ITATM™ was also presented at the EMDR Canada Conference, where it was recognised as an advanced or adapted version of EMDR, safer and more structured for complex clients.

Client Testimonials
“I have found ITATM to be much more successful than with previous therapists (both private and NHS). .
ITATM has more structure than I’ve experienced before. It makes me feel more in control than I ever did with previous EMDR sessions. Working through trauma in a manageable order, and using tools like statements and left-hand writing consistently, has been really helpful. Therapy has helped me significantly.”
“The pace was manageable, and it covered much more than I expected.
I learned to recognise my triggers, set boundaries, regulate my emotions, and speak up for myself. These tools have slowly but profoundly improved my life. I communicate better with others and with myself, feel more confident, and can calm myself when needed. Working with Sharmi gave me a sense of safety and helped me develop compassion for myself. That’s been huge.”
“Life-changing—my trauma symptoms have reduced significantly.
I now have a strong foundation, better sleep, and greater self-awareness. I no longer rely on others’ validation, don’t get triggered uncontrollably, and can cope with much more than before. The tools I learned, like the statements, are still a vital part of my practice. I’m deeply grateful—this work has truly changed my life.”
